Lato: "The only thing that we can do is focus on next weekend and the next game"
Friday night's Valencian derby was Toni Lato's first as a senior player, but unfortunately ended in defeat for him and Valencia CF. The fullback put the 1-0 loss down to turnovers in possession, and addressed the troubles his side had in the game.
"I think that it was obvious and you could see it: We entered into a phase in which we lost a lot of simple balls. When you give away so many balls, it's difficult to move upfield. I think that we had space that we could have made the most of, but we didn't do that and they capitalised on two or three mistakes that we made. That makes it difficult against a team like them," he told VCF Media.
"In the end, if we make a mistake, then get the ball back and make another one, then we find it hard to link passes together and create chances on goal. That makes it difficult. We didn't find that connection to those up top. On a couple of occasions we found the space well, but we didn't get a chance from it. We just have to keep going."

The defeat meant that Valencia CF missed out on establishing a run of consecutive wins -something they have had an issue with in recent weeks.
"It's unfinished business for us, achieving two victories in a row. We didn't manage that today. We need to take that step up, and that starts with winning next weekend and then making it two in a row," Lato underlined.
"The only thing that we can do is focus on next weekend and the next game. These next two days will be good for us, as we will rest up and disconnect ahead of a massive game next weekend, in which we want to take the three points."
